About Us

The Friends of the Yorba Linda Public Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to:

  • Cultivate a closer relationship between the community and the Yorba Linda Public Library,

  • Promote knowledge of Yorba Linda Public Library services and resources, and

  • Provide financial support and volunteer assistance for library programs that serve the entire community and all age groups.

The roots of our organization go back over 100 years; the residents of Yorba Linda have long supported the local library.  For many decades, groups of Yorba Linda residents, collectively known as Friends of the Library, held periodic book sales and book repair events for the benefit of the library.  In the 1970’s the Friends organization was formalized with bylaws, meetings, and programs to promote and benefit the library year-round.  Community fund drives and large books sale events were a big part of fund-raising during this decade.  Then, in the late 1980’s, the leaders of the Friends began to explore ways to expand the organization, culminating with the establishment of our nonprofit corporation in 1989.  This change allowed our organization the opportunity to develop the Book Corner, established in 1992, and create additional fund-raising avenues.

Our organization is 100% volunteer run.  The majority of our revenue comes from the Book Corner, the used book store.  Thanks to the generous donations of books and other media, we are able to give thousands of dollars every year to the Yorba Linda Public Library.  These funds go to support the award-winning community programming offered to all ages.  Below are some of the current programs offered.
